"You would have never known me before," says Elizardo Novelo when he thinks about his life before poetry. Novelo grew up in Belize City and is now an aspiring poet and student who used to practice martial arts - until he found poetry. Novelo also has found a great deal of meaning in his elaborate and risky workout routine, which he starts every morning at 3:30 a.m.
The video is narrated by Novelo, who freestyled the poem when was asked in the interview, "What do you think of when you run?"
Novelo is also captain of the Belizean youth volleyball team and a member of the spoken word poetry group Youth Voices.
Produced by Elizabeth Trovall and Denzel Wade.
